Please do be gentle with cards, they are sprayed with a varnish to protect them but if they are scraped roughly the paint may chip
In a usual Pokmon TCG battle, players would duke it out on their own rubber playmats (or any available surface) but here you get a rigid, fold-out game board that lays out specific card placements to make the process of playing as seamless as possible - even going so far as to include a what you can do during your turn box on each players side, to make sure both players never feel lost while learning the ropes
Part of that is due to the fact that as more cards get printed, and more of those get banned, then the list of banned cards obviously gets longer
The Standard deck used Merfolk Looter and Magus of the Bazaar in this role, which could get between one and three cards in the graveyard on Turn 3
If the goal was to split the difference between the casual market and the competitive market, then Pioneer is still a little too powerful for brews piloted by inexperienced players
Both of them do a good job of showing up the expansions new mechanics and key features, and after playing them I dont think a third one would have been necessary, especially because it would have just been another Ruby/Emerald like last time
